Special lectures and a presentation of the revised Jackie Matisse Virtual Reality piece with Tom Johnson's commissioned score will take place at the event. May 14th, 2003 meeting Ray Kass and Francis Thompson with Russell Walker, Senior Technology Strategist, Capital One, Inc. and Debbie Stanton, Assistant to Director of Development, College of Architecture and Urban Studies.
The purpose of the meeting is to share the developments that are taking place in a Super-computing Visualization 3-dimensional design collaboration with artist Jackie Matisse that premiered at the IGrid conference in Amsterdam in september '02 - where Ray met representatives of Capital One. The virtual reality piece entitled "Kites Flying In and Out of Space" and was intiated and organized by Virginia Tech in coorperation with an extraordinary consortium of collaborating institutions, including The EVL Labs at the Universiy of Illinois at Chicago, The University of Buffallo (SUNY) and the SARA research center in Amsterdam; it is the first dedicated art piece to utilize the world wide Grid and has received significant international reviews.
